HISTORY

The Brigade Canine was founded in 1970 by the parents of Frédéric Labbé (Paul Labbé and Pauline Landry), who were respectively Dog Handlers and Groomers. Frédéric’s parents had already accumulated a few years of experience watching their fathers at work, who were themselves Dog Handlers in the Canadian Armed Forces for mine clearance and breeding. In 1967, Paul and Pauline began breeding Chow-chows. From 1969 to 1970, a stay in the United States and courses in shearing and grooming will allow them to follow a complete and vigorous training. Upon their return, they decide to realize their dreams and found a complete house of education. They begin with a guard and protection dog school by educating large breed dogs.

Since 1984, the clientele has evolved. There are a lot fewer protection classes, but a lot more obedience classes given the increase in the number of small dogs who also need training. We need to teach cleanliness, more canine psychology, help control behavioral issues, teach family obedience, fantasy and agility.

These courses now count 100% of the dedication of our Training School.

It is this journey that allowed Frédéric to be certified as a Professional Dog Master by André Lamarche and Huguette Pinard on May 2, 1992 and to fully understand the bond that is established between the master and his dog and thus develop the approach that is now the success of La Brigade Canine Inc.

TODAY

It was in 2022, following the health crisis and the growth in demand for dog training that we, Alexandra Charpentier, Alison White and Maryse Lambert, made the decision to join forces and become the new co-owners of La Brigade Canine after several years of good and loyal service to this same company. We are also proud to have Frédéric in our training team, with more than 30 years of experience to his credit, he is a valuable asset to our Team.

A new administration, one and the same passion!

Our company offers comprehensive and constantly updated training to meet the requirements of the constantly evolving field. Taught by dedicated, dynamic staff with many years of experience. Our school offers flexible hours (Day, Evening and Weekend) and classes with reduced numbers. This allows us to give a personalized and human service to all our students.

The pedagogical approach is focused on the accomplishment of practical activities that reflect the labor market. We will teach you pride, dedication, discipline all in a respectful atmosphere, but above all done with love and respect for the animal. Our modules start at 100 hours up to a maximum of 3000 hours.
